Steam Turns 20: A journey A Skin For Steam, Which Makes It Look Like How It Originally Was Looking. On 12th of September 2003, Steam was officially released by Valve.

That software completely changed the future of PC gaming. Two decades ago, after a year in pre-release testing phrase, a certain PC gaming client’s stable version was finally released to the public. It has single-handedly revolutionized game purchase and management. Although I did enjoy the time I was there.( ) Valve’s Steam PC gaming client and store has turned 20. But upon finishing the game I really don't have much interest in going back into that world. There are some extras/collectibles/trophies that I can go find. I will definitely play Rise (the sequel). There is a cool post credit bit that sets up the next game. The story itself is pretty predictable and unoriginal.

Requiring to find the right angle to launch a rope arrow at and connect it to some grey patch on the wall that is hard to see/find. Some of the environmental puzzles were frustrating and repetitive. It just felt repetitive and uninteresting. It felt like the same theme was being repeated with no real new twist or anything. The voice messages that you find throughout the environment add very little to the story and seemed superfluous and redundant to me. It breaks the immersion factor if you go off exploring a tomb, for instance, when a pressing main story plot point is in need of addressing. But I felt that engaging in side missions and tomb exploring disrupted from the flow of the main story. Tombs to find and side quests to do are available to you. Side missions/collectibles: There are optional side missions and collectibles. Yet it is presented as a co-equal option to other attributes when it really isn't. But, for some reason, you can still increase your skill level for hunting animals even though there are no animals to hunt. Once you get past a certain level, the need and ability to hunt animals disappears. The hunter tree has very little value if you just want to play through the main story. For me, the best way to go was to maximize brawler stats and sprinkle in some survival points. As long as you play it in a certain way.Which leads me to the cons.Ĭrafting /. This game definitely has a cinematic feel.

A lot of the set pieces feel like roller coaster rides / combined with action movie sequences. The avalanche sequence at the beginning is fun, especially if you have headphones on and are sitting in a dark room. Top of the class.Īction and set pieces are a lot of fun.

Graphics: I played on the PS4 and I thought that the graphics were top notch. Pros/Cons of Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration: I liked uncharted and I like Tomb raider. The two games are very similar in style and gameplay.I believe if you liked Uncharted you will like Tomb raider and vice versa. They both involve looking for clues to an ancient secret, a mercenary organization is tracking your movements and after the same goal, some light supernatural elements to the story, lots of climbing and jumping, set piece shootouts with toy soldier mercenaries, environmental puzzles that you have to solve to advance the story, and breathtaking set pieces. The two games are very similar in tone, setting, and gameplay. I would say that Tomb Raider heavily influenced Uncharted. That franchise is in my top five of all time best video games. I played the reboot last year and enjoyed it so I bought Rise and Shadow. I never played Tomb Raider in its original iteration. The old /r/patientgamers Essential Games List
